Love Island has reached its climax, after eight weeks of watching the drama, love triangles and shock dumping's unfold - but this series has often left fans of the show feeling a little mugged off.

To make-up for the show's poor performance this summer, Youth group travel brand, Contiki, is urging fans to get their island fix elsewhere. With the real Ireland. See what we did there?

Contiki has partnered with Tourism Ireland and local experts to handpick and publish the Top Ten best group travel destinations that are guaranteed to be your type on paper.

Ireland is one of the most naturally beautiful places in the world, and with the Emerald Isle just a short trip across the Irish Sea - it's the perfect destination to explore with your friends instead of heading further afield.

The beautiful Cliffs of Moher are one of the most Instagrammable sights in Ireland - whilst the adrenaline-fuelled zip wires would give any Love Island challenge a run for its money. Switch from Casa Amor to the historic town of Kilkenny, and meet James McCloy, a fourth-generation shepherd who showcases his family heritage of sheep farming with his highly trained team of working sheepdogs.

And the trip is made all the more fun by travelling with Contiki. Grab your bucket hats and couple-up with a villa-full of Islanders to discover experiences that you never would have found on Google Maps. Contiki only works with local experts on the ground across its destinations, which allows travellers to get a deeper and more fun-filled experience of local culture.

Donna Jeavons, Sales and Marketing Director at Contiki, said:

"As the latest series of Love Island draws to a close, we wanted to remind travellers about what the real Ireland has to offer. The villa is all about shared group experiences and visiting Ireland with Contiki is the perfect way to discover what this beautiful island has to offer - and make new friendships and memories."

David Wood, Tourism Ireland's Trade & Industry Manager Great Britain, said:

“Tourism Ireland is delighted to be partnering with Contiki on this campaign, the island of Ireland is the perfect group travel destination with a great range of iconic attractions, exciting experiences, vibrant cities and a globally renowned friendly welcome and the campaign gives us the perfect opportunity to showcase this to our GB audience.”

Cliffs of Moher

If heights aren't your cup of tea, you best sit this one out. Spine tingling, nail biting cliff faces are there to tremble at for those without fear. You might recognise them from famous films like Harry Potter, The Princess Bride, and Leap Year. Narrowly missing making the shortlist of the New7Wonders of Nature, the cliffs are a once in a lifetime trip (but really, please don't trip close to the edge) that you won't want to miss.

Kilkenny

Visit the gorgeous medieval town of Kilkenny, in South East Ireland. The town is full of history with many well-preserved churches and monasteries, including St Canice's Cathedral and Black Abbey Dominican Priory, and mountains of medieval charm. But instead of walking around the winding lanes selling pottery, paintings and jewellery, grab your mates and take a zipline that sends you flying over the entire town. And if heights aren't your thing, get your bucket hats and jump into a White Water Raft that will take you through the choppy and adrenaline-filled rivers that surround the town. Still not vibing? Then shoot your shot with one of Ireland's native Gaelic games, Hurling. Considered the fastest and most skilful game in the world, what's not to love? Teams consist of 15 players and the action is fast and aggressive, with players using their hurls (sticks) to knock the sliotar (ball) into the goal for 3 points or through a pair of uprights for 1 point.

Omagh

Stop off in the bustling market town of Omagh, the heart of County Tyrone. If you're down for some bangin' scenery, head to the beautifully wild and untouched Sperrin Mountains that stretch along the border of Tyrone and Derry, or Gortin Glen Forest Park with a wide range of way-marked trails to choose from. And meet James McCloy, a fourth-generation shepherd who demonstrates sheep farming with his particularly highly trained team of working sheepdogs. On this trip you'll get to visit his farm to learn about his family's rich history of traditional shepherding practices (and yes, you're allowed to pet the sheep dogs. Day, made).

Dublin

So much more than a capital city, Dublin is a place of heritage, character, and more cute pubs than you could crawl in a week. It's a city that's as intimate as a village and as friendly as an Irish pub. Kick things off with dinner and one of the city's famous foods; Irish Stew and boxty pancakes, before taking a city tour, with a lively night drinking bevys on the cobbled lanes of Temple Bar. Or fancy a bit of a cool down in the summer sun? Jump in a Kayak on the Liffey and glide through Dublin by water, just make sure you don't drop your phone while you're snapping all the pics.

Giant's Causeway

UNESCO World Heritage site of the Giant's Causeway - also known as those giant rock columns you've probably drooled over on Pinterest needs to be seen to be believed. An area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns that are either the result of an ancient volcanic eruption, or by a giant named Finn McCool who lived and battled along the North Antrim Coast (depending on who you believe, of course). Travel along the iconic Giant's Causeway Coast Route, and let yourself be enchanted by the gorgeous locations on the Antrim Coast, the lush beauty of the Irish landscape, and of course, the Giant's Causeway itself. Take away the hassle of checking maps, stopping to ask for directions, and we will ensure you see the best spots and get plenty of time to explore the Giant's Causeway.Get those hashtags ready, a snap with the group is essential on the mind-blowing natural formation.
