Warsaw, May 29, 2014 – LOT gives you new travel opportunities.The Polish national carrier expands its offer for both business and leisure travellers.Among other things, June will see the new LOT Economy Plus class and LOT Economy Simple tariff.On the one hand, one can travel more comfortably and, on the other, at even up to 30% lower cost.

LOT Polish Airlines launches new services and extends the target group of customers.This is another step in consistently implemented Restructuring Plan.In the past year, the airline focused primarily on cutting cost, looking for savings and began a programme of transitions to improve, among others, the quality of product and standard of services.Those activities are now intensified.LOT has analysed in detail the passenger surveys conducted by TNS Polska.The surveys addressed several aspects affecting the choice of an airline.Another key point of the transitions was the project involving an in-depth analysis of trends and competition in the airline market, conducted for the first time in many years.

“WE significantly improved our results in the past year, but cutting the cost alone is not enough.
To achieve sustainable profitability, LOT has to grow and take care about the passengers more, by expanding the portfolio, offering better comfort and a broad range of optional services.Our new offerings today best prove that LOT is changing according to the expectations of different groups of passengers, both those travelling in business and for leisure- says Sebastian Mikosz, CEO, LOT Polish Airlines.

LOT Economy Plus is a new travelling class which will be available in June on all LOT's short- and medium-haul aircrafts.Travelling in this class, the passenger is offered a business product for an economy price.On buying a ticket, every customer is offered a dedicated hotline number, check-in desk together with the business class, priority baggage and boarding service, and
a dedicated bus when the aircraft cannot be accessed from a jet bridge in Warsaw airport.
There are even more benefits waiting on the board, a choice of meals, beverages and alcoholic drinks as in the business class, everyday press and a seat in the front part of the jet, together with the business class, in front of the so called bulkhead.In addition to that, the passengers will score more miles in the frequent-flyer programs than before.Premium class passengers on long-haul flights will travel in Europe in LOT Economy Plus class.

"The new class is primarily an offer to business travellers who expect a higher standard of service but, for some reasons, they do not want or cannot travel in the business class.For this group of passengers, the comfort, high service standard and possibility to travel fast are important.Therefore, with this class we offer all facilities for a faster check-in, boarding, and luggage collection” - explains Michał Leman, Product and Marketing Office Director, LOT Polish Airlines

While developing new proposals, LOT has also prepared a special, simple and low-cost tariff
LOT Economy Simple, addressed to the passengers who want to decide themselves what services to use and for whom the lowest cost of flight is most important.Ticket prices in this tariff will be even 30 % lower than in the standard economy class.Within the ticket, the passengers have an option for either an online or at the airport check-in, and, on the board, they are served a drink and a sweet snack and score the frequent-flyer miles.This tariff is prepared mainly for leisure travellers and short weekend trip makers, flying only with their cabin luggage.If, in addition to the cabin luggage, they also want to travel with checked luggage, they will be charged PLN 60 extra.In normal economy class, the checked luggage is still carried free of charge.

The return tickets in LOT Economy Simple start from PLN 199.Therefore, with the new tariff, discounted flights are available: to Brussels 30% off (PLN 439 in Economy Simple vs. PLN 638 in Economy), to London – 29% off (PLN 499 in Economy Simple vs. PLN 705 in Economy), to Paris – 24% off (PLN 449 in Economy Simple vs. 458 in Economy). 

But that is not all the news.LOT Gourmet also changes. The economy class passengers on all flights can now enjoy new season and enhanced menu and sets of meals.The pricing still remains competitive to that offered at the airports and by other airlines.

On long-haul flights, however, to and from America and China, in addition to a complete change of menu in all classes, in LOT Business Class, LOT has added new service components since May, so the passengers can feel like in a sky restaurant. Before the take off, together with a welcome drink, they will be served a small appetizer and, after the take off, new will be the soup followed by ice cream as the dessert. The main dish will be prepared on board and served by specially trained cabin crew. The standard appetizer and a cake are still available as an option to the main dish. Passengers on their way back from the US or China to Poland will also have a choice of one of three breakfasts: the continental, fitness and hot ones. The new service in LOT Business Class is therefore more like in a restaurant. In collaboration with Wiesław Wysocki, the Vice-President of the Polish Association of Sommeliers, LOT introduces also a new wine list and adds cider.

Moreover, on all flights to Chicago, New York, Toronto and Beijing, the number of movies available totally for free in the on-board entertainment system has doubled on Dreamliners in all travelling classes.

The LOT For Business programme also sees changes.They include flexible rules for the use of accumulated points. For example they can pay for hotel accommodation or Business Lounge and shopping at airkiosk.lot.com.In Autumn, new activities will appear in the LdF programme, and the offer will be further expanded.

Other facilities introduced recently by LOT include:My Favourite Seat – an opportunity to select the most convenient and comfortable place in an aircraft, available at an extra charge.In addition to that, My Extra Luggage service is offered, meaning that one can pay 20% less for planned excess baggage.Furthermore, there is a choice available of nine traveller's insurance packages, Mondial Assistance, and LOT Upgrade package which enjoys increasing popularity.Passengers can bid for Business Class long-haul flight tickets and get them at attractive prices which they propose.All optional services are now available while booking flights with lot.com.

The announced news will be introduced by the end of June.In the summer, the cabin crew will surprise the passengers with new outfits – on its 85th birthday, LOT female flight attendants will wear dresses as it used to be before.It is certainly not the end of changes and further improvement of the service standard.In May, LOT appointed a special mobile team to supervise the service quality at the airport.
