Look no further. The Dude Ranchers Association membership includes 118 ranches in 12 western states and two Canadian provinces. Established in 1926, the DRA evaluates each member applicant, for 2 years prior to their acceptance into the association. Dude ranches have been around for generations providing memorable vacations for families, couples, singles, and groups.
Safe? What could be safer than to be in the country with open spaces all around you? Most dude ranches are located off the beaten path in magnificent country. Some are located in their own valley, others in wooded canyons or on high desert plateaus and many are bordered by National Forest lands. Snow capped mountains, lush meadows, sparkling rivers and lakes, grazing cattle and wildlife, star lit skies, wildflowers and clean air await you the traveler.
Convenient? Childrens programs are offered at many of the ranches. You can enjoy a ride, hike, and sit by the pool or on the porch while your children are engaged in creative endeavors, educational activities, or horseback riding. Other ranches offer family activities where you can participate in activities with your children. Some ranches are adults only. Meal preparation, housekeeping, activity planning are taken care of for you. Ranchers want you to enjoy your vacation with the least amount of hassle possible.
Reasonably priced? Theres a ranch for every budget. Inside the FREE directory you will find ranches offering vacation packages for as little as $800/week per person and many have reduced rates for children and groups, offer special week rates, and early and late season discounts. Lodging, meals, ranch activities, housekeeping services are all a part of the dude ranch vacation package. For as little as $125/day you can experience western hospitality and experiences at its finest.
Ranch Activities? There is such a variety to choose from. Horseback riding, wagon rides, cookouts, cattle drives, whitewater rafting, hiking, four wheel drive trips to old mining towns, fishing, team penning, western dancing and entertainment, swimming pool, learning how to rope, overnight pack trips, trap shooting, boat tours, and spa activities are some of the activities offered.
