London Hotel Wins Silver Prize In National Hotel Awards Scheme

Hilton Hotels

The London Hilton on Park Lane has been recognised as one of Englands finest hotel having been awarded the silver prize in the countrys premiere national tourism awards scheme.

Shortlisted as Londons best in VisitBritains Enjoy England Excellence Awards, Large Hotel of the Year category, the property was presented with the accolade at an awards ceremony at Londons Banqueting House in Whitehall.

Having made it to the final three of all nine regions, the London Hilton on Park Lane was pitted against the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne and the Grosvenor in Chester, the latter of which took the gold award.

Michael Shepherd, general manager at the hotel, said: It was a proud moment when we were selected as the Londons number one large hotel and to have been awarded silver prize is truly wonderful.

This is an exciting time for the UK as a business and leisure destination and we believe ourselves to be one of the countrys, if not Europes, finest deluxe hotels.

Popular with a wide range of corporate and leisure customers, the property boasts one of Londons top 20 coolest bars in Zeta Bar (as voted by the Evening Standard), one of the largest banqueting facilities in the Grand Ballroom and several other five star facilities including Trader Vics and Park Brasserie restaurants.

Over the past few years a large amount of resource has been spent in revitalising the hotel, including the multi million pound renovation of the 28th floor restaurant, now known as Galvin at Windows which has been recognised as one of the rising Michelin star contenders.

Additional refurbishment work has been undertaken in the luxury and presidential suites plus the Executive Lounge and Pop bar.

All of the hotels 453 rooms afford views from Hyde Park to the West End and Canary Wharf, with some including private balconies.

Renowned London designer Lynne Hunt of Hunt Hamilton Zuch was brought on board recently to conceive the design for the entire 26th floor plus nine additional suites. All the remaining rooms and suites remain world class.

The award scheme is run in co-ordination with Englands nine regional tourism bodies, with Visit London carrying out the initial judging session at the London Hilton on Park Lane and the follow up conducted by VisitBritain.

Judges were looking for entrants to demonstrate a commitment to excellent service and customer care, strong environmental policies, provisions for disabled guests and investment in staff training and development.
