Thredbo celebrated the good life over the weekend with a big schedule of food, wine and fun at Taste of the Snowies: Thredbo Food and Wine Festival. Now in its second year, the Taste of the Snowies saw a 30% increase in visitation with over 500 attendees enjoying the region's amazing produce.

The Taste of the Snowies Market on Saturday 7 March was the highlight of the weekend with great weather, live entertainment and a huge spread of local food and drinks. Festival favourites included a Merimbula and Pambula oyster shucking station, baked treats and preserves from Crackenback Farm, Australian native flavoured cheeses from Bodalla Dairy, unique cocktails from Wildbrumby Distillery and floral wines from Shut the Gate.

“It was amazing to see so many people turnout for this important local event. There was a big range of great local food and drink on show and the weather really turned it on for us. The feedback has been incredible and we can't wait to make Taste of the Snowies even bigger and better next year!” said Thredbo Alpine Hotel Food and Beverage Manager Ian Campbell.

Throughout the weekend local venues also hosted a range of stand-out degustation events. Both the popular annual Village Wide Progressive Dinner and the Collector Winemakers Dinner hosted by award winning winemaker Alex McKay were sold out events with wine paired with creative dishes the main focus. The Wildbrumby Degustation Dinner was an inventive new addition with great cocktails and fresh and modern food.

Taste of the Snowies: Thredbo Food and Wine Festival was definitely a summer events calendar highlight. Watch this space for even more culinary delights and bigger events at next years festival.
