www.ski-livigno.com is the new UK portal for one of Livigno's longest established travel providers, and as since the resort opened for skiing on November 29th, skiers have enjoyed top to bottom skiing. By mid-December while other resorts were bemonaing a lack of snow, more than 95% pf Livigno's pistes were being enjoyed by skiers and snowboarders, as they do every year.
Meanwhile, over the middle weekend of December Livigno hosted the annual curtain raiser to the cross country skiing race circuit. 'La Sgambeda' is a marathon raced on Livigno's 40km circuit and attracts thousands of cross country skiers each year, including world class athletes as well as keen amateurs. For a less challenging experience the 'mini-Sgambeda' is raced over a circuit of 4km.
Livigno is located at 1,800 m in a long broad valley known locally as 'Little Tibet' with a ski range from 1,800 – 3,000 m. The resort boasts 115 kms of piste, snowparks and a Freeride area. The season is long lasting, from late November until early May and skiers will be able to ski from top to bottom on the last day of the season as well as the first day!
There are plenty of ways to get to Livigno, with Saturday airport transfers available from the following airports - Bergamo, Milan and Innsbruck, with the addition of Friedrichshafen for the 14/15 ski season. Both British Airways and Monarch fly to Friedrichshafen each Saturday from Gatwick, with Monarch also offering a Manchester service.
