Litchfield Plantation Area Statistics and Facts

Litchfield Plantation

Litchfield Plantation is at the southern end of the 60-mile stretch of South Carolina coastline known as the Grand Strand, an almost continuous stretch of wide sandy beaches from the North Carolina line through Pawleys Island. The incorporated town of Pawleys Island includes the original narrow oceanfront beach of the same name and the adjacent Litchfield area which was once all part of Litchfield Plantation.

Today Litchfield Beach and other Litchfield-named developments on U.S. Highway 17 are separate from the remaining 600-acre historic Litchfield Plantation, located away from the traffic and retail centers in a peaceful world all its own. Visitors to Litchfield Plantation have quick access to all of the popular tourist and entertainment attractions of the Grand Strand, but can just as quickly retreat to the quiet Plantation. The Plantation also has a beach clubhouse on Pawleys Island for its guests.

The following facts about the Grand Strand as a whole were provided by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and other sources:
