Lindenderry at Red Hill is delighted to once again be considered by Australia's leading wine authority, James Halliday, as a five-star winery. The accolade continues a recent trend for Lindenderry, which in the last twelve months has received unprecedented recognition for its boutique accommodation, food and now wine, validating the property's dedication to becoming the leading destination for luxury-seekers in Australia.
Falling under the umbrella of Australia's preeminent boutique hoteliers, the Lancemore Group, this success can be attributed to the group's careful appointment of a team whose backgrounds all resound a similar passion for food and wine. Leading this direction is the property's General Manager, Roger Lancia, who cut his teeth with the Grossi and the Van Haandel groups. Roger has been on board since the end of 2014 and has helped in securing an incredibly impressive team, including a new Food and Beverage Manager, Terina Davies, as well as head chef, Michael Greenlaw.
With Terina and Michael both being ex-Vue De Monde, and Michael having held various positions in critically acclaimed kitchens throughout the world – such as Atlantis in Dubai and Gilt in New York –whilst Terina has also worked for local institution, the European, the combined amass of experience and span of careers within this new team has already created quite the stir amongst guests.
Following from these new appointments and with a soft refurbishment now complete, Lindenderry has since ranked in the top ten Australian hotels across four separate categories in the prestigious Luxury Magazine's 2015 Gold List Awards. The top ten rankings were for the following categories: Best Australian Boutique Hotel, Best Australia Property within Driving Distance of a Capital City, Australia's most Romantic Property and Best Australian Food and Wine Experience Property – with accommodation.
With this most recent salute from Halliday, Lindenderry continues to grow from strength to strength. Lancemore CEO, Julian Clark says that, “whilst the title from James Halliday as a five-star winery is exciting, we are simply elated with the overall results of the individual wines. With nearly our entire collection receiving a 95 or above, and with our Pinot Gris receiving equal best in the nation, we couldn't be happier with the direction the winery is moving.”
Clark goes on, “as the Wine Companion accentuates in its commentary, none of this would have been achievable without the man behind the wine, Barney Flanders. Barney has been on board with us at Lindenderry Wines for a few years now and each year he manages to push the wine to new limits and we are incredibly fortunate to have him at our helm, working with some of the best viticulturists from each of the regions. I couldn't be more proud with what they are achieving.”
With the powerhouse combination of this new team, Lindenderry can confidently name itself as the premier hotel for food, wine and accommodation, in one of the nation's best food and wine regions. Notably, no other property in Australia boasts a five-star winery, a critically acclaimed restaurant, spectacular gardens and one of the nation's best boutique hotels, all in one single location – that the property is found only an hour from Melbourne's CBD is mere icing on the cake.
