Liguria Launches First Dedicated Guide Book

Turismo In Liguria

The Italian region of Liguria has launched its first dedicated guide book, in association with Bradt and author Rosie Whitehouse (www.rosiewhitehouse.co.uk), which is now available to buy from major bookshops and online. The 242-page guide provides comprehensive information on each of Liguria’s regions with suggestions of where to stay and eat, what to do and what not to miss as well as an in-depth history of the region.

“In Liguria” is holding a launch event for the guidebook on 21st May at the Italian Cultural Institute from 6-8pm. Rosie Whitehouse, members of the Bradt team and representatives from “In Liguria” will be at the event. There are limited media places available. To enquire about a place or for further details contact Jules Ugo or Amelia Astley Birtwistle on firstname@lotus-uk.co.uk/ 0207 953 7470.

Located between the French Riviera and Tuscany in north-west Italy, the region is best known for the charming Cinque Terre villages, the coastal town of Portofino and its capital, Genoa. The guide will help open up the rest of Liguria to visitors by highlighting the lesser known smaller communities and hard to reach mountain areas. Rosie Whitehouse has been a fan of Liguria since she first visited in 1966 and has now visited every corner of the region allowing her to provide expert, first-hand knowledge.

The guide stresses that although Liguria is one of Italy’s smallest regions at just 5,422km², it has something for everyone with three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, unspoilt beaches, a 700km mountain range for hikers and bikers, colourful sealife for divers, whalewatching, vineyards, wineries, a unique gastronomy and 100 palaces and Europe’s oldest historical centre in Genoa.

The detailed guide also has colour pages showing the region’s highlights, detailed maps, travel advice and simple pesto recipes, Italian proverbs and quotes from local folklore dotted throughout the text, giving a relaxed and personal expression of Liguria.

The guide is available in all major book shops across the UK and retails at £15.99.
