Diehard skiers and boarders wanting to make their first turns of the snow season should be headed to Perisher Blue this long weekend.
Snowmakers have been working throughout the nights, when conditions have allowed, preparing Front Valley at Perisher for snow fun.
At this stage Mitchell T-Bar is planned to open with snow covering a portion of the main slope. The Freelander Quad Express will also be open for foot passengers.
Skiing and snowboarding are not the only activities on the agenda for the Celebration of Winter weekend. A host of indoor and outdoor entertainment around the resort is set to kick off in Smiggin Holes on Friday night with a eye popping Fire Dance Show and six piece band Grover playing at the Smiggs Hotel.
Over the weekend a variety of performers will keep everyone entertained, with festivities commencing at 10.30 am on the centre stage in Perisher Valley daily.
Acts included: buskers, clowns, bands, indigenous story telling and dancers, plus the Blessing of the Snow ceremony on Saturday.
The forecast is for the chance of snow over the weekend, with a significant cold front expected to reach the Snowy Mountains by Wednesday, which is virtually the same pattern experienced in 2004, a bumper season for snow.
