NEW HOTELS
JW MARRIOTT VENICE RESORT AND SPA (5*) in Venice
The new addition to the JW Marriott chain of luxury hotels will open in Venice in mid March 2015 on its own private island, Isola delle Rose located in the Venetian lagoon. Situated among the island's expansive private gardens and olive groves the JW Marriott will feature 266 guest rooms and suites, a spa and health club, outdoor, indoor and rooftop swimming pool, an array of bars and restaurants and also a private beautifully restored church. www.marriott.co.uk
ME HOTEL IL DUCA (5*) in Milan
ME by Meliá, will open a new hotel in Milan in April 2015 near to the famous “fashion quadrilateral", in Piazza della Repubblica. The hotel will be close to Corso Como, one of the chicest areas of the city.
The hotel will feature132 rooms, including 34 suites - amongst which will be the signature penthouse "Suite ME" - Lounge-Bar and Restaurant, and ultra-modern conference rooms. The rooftop bar, another hallmark of ME hotels will be an impressive,600 square metres, in size and will boast panoramic views over the city, showing off sights including the Garibaldi towers. www.melia.com
MANDARIN ORIENTAL (5*) in Milan
The latest addition to the luxury chain Mandarin Oriental will be opened in Milan end of April/May 2015.

SHERATON LAKE COMO HOTEL (5*) in Como
The new Sheraton Lake Como Hotel will open on 25 March 2015. The hotel has 116 rooms with windows giving onto a lush green park, more than 11.000sqm.. The hotel has an open-air swimming pool with hydro-massage also available. The culinary offer is provided by two restaurants offering local and international specialities, two bars and a pizzeria. Meeting rooms are also available.

GRAND HOTEL COURMAYEUR MONT BLANC (5*) in the Aosta Valley
The Grand Hotel Courmayeur opened at the end of December 2014 in the glamorous ski resort of Courmayeur in the AostaValley. The new luxury hotel offers 72 rooms and suites, a gourmet restaurant with windows giving onto the magnificent Mont Blanc and Giant's Tooth, an American bar and lounge with a live fireplace and two terraces. RE-OPENINGS AND NEW SERVICES
RE-OPENING OF THE EXCELSIOR HOTEL GALLIA (5*) in Milan
The Luxury Collection will re-open the historic Excelsior Hotel Gallia in Milan on the occasion of the Milan Expo 2015. The new hotel will include the old building built in 1932 and a new modern building with the exterior made in steel and glass, the two buildings will be linked by a covered bridge, 100 metres long.
The hotel will offer 235 rooms and suites, two restaurants and two bars, one with panoramic terrace on the top floor, a lounge bar and cigar room, a spa, swimming pool and gym, two ballrooms and meeting spaces. www.luxurycollection.com
RE-OPENING OF THE ST REGIS VENICE SAN CLEMENTE PALACE HOTEL (5*) in Venice
The St Regis Venice San Clemente Palace Hotel will re-open in April 2015 after extensive renovation works, it is now part of Starwood Hotels. The hotel was originally built on a 12th century monastery on a private island. The hotel now offers 119 suites and rooms with lagoon and gardens views. Part of the hotel is also a private church which can be hired for weddings, 2 restaurants and 2 bars, swimming pool and golf course.
NEW ADDITIONS TO SEVEN STARS GALLERIA (7* suite Hotel) in Milan
The all-suite luxuryHotel Seven Stars Galleria, located in the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, is adding new features in April 2015 in readiness for the Milan Expo 2015. The Penthouse Galleria, situated on the 5th floor, giving onto the Galleria and Piazza della Scala is 450sqms, with billiard room and private kitchen.
A new Passeggiata on the roofs of the Galleria will also be offered to the public, it consists of a walkway, 250 metres long, on the roof of the Galleria where one can admire a wonderful view of Milan from Piazza Duomo to Piazza della Scala. BEST WESTERN HOTEL MODERNO VERDI (4*) in Genoa
Best Western Hotels has re-opened under its brand the Moderno Verdi Hotel, near Brignole Station. The hotel is housed in a Liberty Style building has been completely renovated maintaining the original classic features but also adding modern touches. The hotel offers 87 rooms, “Rigoletto” restaurant with Ligurian and international specialities and a lounge bar. www.modernoverdi.it
RE-OPENING OF THE CHIA LAGUNA RESORT in Sardinia
With the new summer season the Chia Laguna Resort in one of the most enchanting corners of Sardinia will re-open having completed a full re-styling. The resort will boast a new spa, two new suites of 80 and 140sqm and a private swimming pool.

WINE TEMPLE in Milan
Alessandro Rosso Group has recently opened the Wine Temple in Milan, 21 Piazza Duomo, a true temple dedicated to good wine and food with 7.600 wine bottles and more than 1.000 wine brands, cooking by famous chef Alberto Citterio is now fully operational and ready for the Milan EXPO which starts in May.
NEW RESTAURANTS IN MILAN
ESSENZA is the new restaurant by Eugenio Boer at 34, Via Marghera. Already owner of the speciality restaurants FishBar and MeatBar, Eugenio has gone back to the “essence” of his cooking offering tasting menus that revive the traditions of Northern Italian cuisine. www.essenzaristorante.it
FILIPPO LA MANTIA, the famous chef will open soon (ready for the Milan EXPO) a new restaurant on the premises of the ex Gold of Dolce & Gabbana. The restaurant will be transformed to reflect Filippo's philosophy with a more classic touch, diffused music, design gallery and above all its delicate cuisine of Sicilian inspiration.
MANUELINA, is the legendary “Focacceria” in Recco, Liguria, but now her delicious “focacce” and other Ligurian delicacies such as Torta Pasqualina and Pandolce Genovese can be savoured at the new premises in Milan, annexe of La Rinascente department store. www.manuelina.it
NEW RESTAURANTS IN ROME
NA' COSETTA opened recently in the trendy Pigneto area of Rome (54, Via Ettore Giovenale) and it is open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the evening there is live music until 2am.
IL PASSETTO, the historic Roman restaurant has re-opened under the helm of Domenico Giorgi and offers traditional Roman dishes, fish specialities such as squid-ink black risotto and lemon lobster. www.il-passetto.it
EXQUISITALY, this new temple of Italian food opened recently in Piazza San Bernardo, Repubblica area of Rome. Two floors full of the best that Italy has to offer in terms of food and wine, chocolate and fine patisserie. The chef is Antonello Migliore, already know as teacher at the Gambero Rosso School of Cooking.
