Leo Trippi

Award-winning alpine travel specialist, Leo Trippi, (leotrippi.com), announces the launch of its brand new Arctic portfolio featuring incredible properties across Finland, Sweden, Iceland and Alaska. Offering true luxury in the Arctic Circle, Leo Trippi's “Arctic Collection” provides a gateway to the awe-inspiring Arctic wilderness, along with once-in-a-lifetime experiences, mouth-watering cuisine and rejuvenating wellness facilities.

With a rise in clients looking for a remote escape away from the crowds, we feel this is the perfect time to launch our Arctic collection. The prospect of having the landscape to yourself has never been more appealing and with this in mind we wanted to create a portfolio of unique properties where luxury and wilderness combine.”   - Oliver Corkhill, Leo Trippi

Fjellborg Arctic Lodge, Sweden

Nestled in the trees on the shore of Lake Vakkara, Fjellborg Arctic Lodge is an oasis of luxury 200 km north of the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland. In this tranquil and secluded setting, guests can enjoy a relaxing holiday in total privacy. The inviting Master Cabin with its welcoming wood-burner and sauna is the perfect place to cosy up together, while outdoors is a hot tub with mesmerizing views. Treated to a private chef, guests enjoy dishes based around locally sourced fish, game, vegetables, berries and mushrooms. There are also a number of private guided activities on offer from dog sledding and ice fishing to snowshoeing, ice sculpting and snowmobile excursions.

Loggers Lodge, Sweden

The ultimate couple's hideaway, Loggers Lodge is a beautifully-renovated cabin in the middle of the forest in Swedish Lapland. With 5 km of wilderness separating you from your nearest neighbour, privacy and isolation is assured here. With zero light pollution, the lodge provides the perfect spot for viewing the otherworldly aurora borealis. The lodge's warm interior with a central fireplace provides the perfect backdrop for a romantic evening dinner cooked by the private chef. Menus vary seasonally but typically include arctic char, reindeer steaks and locally-foraged berries and mushrooms.

During the day guests can enjoy a range of unique activities including nordic ski touring, foraging expeditions, dog sledding, photography workshops and reindeer herding with the Sámi people. Back at the cabin, couples can relax in the wood-fire sauna or soak in the outdoor hot tub whilst admiring the twinkling starry sky.

Javri Lodge, Finland

Surrounded by fells, forests, lakes and rivers, Javri Lodge is an ec0-friendly retreat in the small village of Saariselka, 250 km north of the Arctic Circle. Renovated in 2017, this boutique hotel was the former home of the longest-serving Finnish president, Urho Kekkonen, and can be taken on an exclusive-use basis to sleep a total of 26 guests. Foodies will be in heaven with the Lodge's five to seven course extravaganza, showcasing the best ingredients from the region such as king crab and wild fish.

With Finland's second largest national park on the doorstep, there are endless opportunities to explore this picturesque region; whether that be downhill or cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and fat biking tours or enjoying a reindeer safari. After a full day outdoors, there's nothing better than returning home to the lodge's authentic Finnish sauna, indoor pool and restorative spa treatments.

Deplar Farm, Iceland

Found in the remote Fljót Valley on the Troll Peninsula, Deplar Farm gives guests the opportunity to experience once-in-a-lifetime Arctic adventures.  Iceland has one of the lowest population densities in the world, with sheep outnumbering humans by more than 2:1. Guests can fly privately into one of the nearby fishing villages or charter a private air transfer directly to the lodge. With the Fljót Valley receiving some of the highest average snowfall on the planet, this is the ideal destination for ski touring and heli-skiing. It is also a wonderful place to view the Northern Lights; between October and early April is the best time to see the sky light up in a dazzling array of colours.

Tailor-made for relaxation and rejuvenation, the farm has a superb spa featuring an indoor/outdoor pool, indoor hot tub, sauna, three massage rooms and two isopod flotation tanks. Guest's can enjoy meals prepared by Iceland's 2018 chef of the year, Garðar Garðarsson, who created customised traditional Icelandic meals combined with modern techniques, serving simple plates that allow the produce to shine.

Sheldon Chalet, Alaska

Whilst not technically in the Arctic Circle, Sheldon Chalet offers a breathtaking experience just 10 miles from the summit of Denali. Perched on a mountain ridge at an elevation of 6,000ft, the uninterrupted views and crystal-clear mountain air provide the perfect conditions for aurora viewing and stargazing.  Accessible by light aircraft and helicopter, this exquisite alpine retreat is the ultimate private escape away from the crowds.

Set over two floors, this Bond-style lair is beautifully furnished with handcrafted furniture and features floor-to-ceiling windows allowing the spectacular scenery to shine through. Guests will be treated to locally-sourced cuisine paired with the finest wines and a staggering array of activities from snowshoe glacier trekking to sledding, rappelling and crevasse exploration.
