LEE COUNTY, FL – Award-winning, nationally-recognized singer-songwriters will entertain residents and visitors alike at the first Island Hopper Songwriter Fest in fall 2014 on Captiva Island and Fort Myers Beach, the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB) announced today.
Songwriters who have penned No. 1 hits for such artists as Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, Lee Ann Womack, Kellie Pickler, Montgomery Gentry, Trace Adkins, Easton Corbin, Mark Chesnutt, Sammy Kershaw, Justin McBride, and many others will perform at multiple venues simultaneously Sept. 26 – 28 on Captiva Island and Oct. 3 – 6 on Fort Myers Beach. Most performances will be free of charge.
Singer-songwriters Wynn Varble and Phil O'Donnell performed during the preview announcement in Fort Myers today. Varble had his first No. 1 song, “Have You Forgotten,” with Darryl Worley in 2003. His most recent No. 1 song, “I'm a Little More Country,” recorded by Easton Corbin, was nominated by the Academy of Country Music for song of the year. One of O'Donnell's credits was “That's What I Love About Sunday,” a No. 1 country hit for Craig Morgan.
The Island Hopper Songwriter Fest is presented by the VCB, Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), iHeart Radio, and Cat Country 107.1 (Clear Channel Media).
