The Anglo-Jordanian Society would like to invite you to the first of our series of lectures for 2016; a lecture by HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan, who on the eve of the centenary of the Arab Revolt, will be discussing the implications of the Revolt and whether it represented an historic opportunity for human renaissance in the Arab World – or alternatively, a disaster of epic proportions.
The lecture will be held on Tuesday the 12th January 2016 at 6pm, at the Royal Geographical Society (Exhibition Rd, London SW7 2AR, UK)
Attendance is free to all, but please register your attendance HERE, as names must be presented prior to the event. Please bring a form of ID and print the ticket emailed to you to present at the door.
About the Anglo-Jordanian Society
The Anglo-Jordanian Society was founded in 1981 on the initiative of HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal and today has well over 400 members.
Its objectives are to promote friendship and understanding between the people of the two countries, as well as to increase public knowledge in the UK of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, its history, geography, economy and culture. Whilst offering a focal point for meetings between individuals from both countries for business, pleasure and charitable activities, the AJS also aims to provide relief from need, hardship and distress in Jordan and, in exceptional circumstances in association with Jordanian charitable societies, in the countries of the wider Levant.
To this end the Society organises a number of events throughout the year including meetings and lectures, cultural events such as film screenings and private viewings, power breakfasts and social gatherings, as well as a biennial dinner attended by its patrons, HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal, HRH Princess Sarvath and HRH the Duke of Kent. Proceeds from all these events are donated to charitable causes.
Membership starts from just £20, and is open to anyone interested in furthering understanding between Jordan and the UK, and in wanting to support Jordanian charities. The AJS welcomes the active participation of its members through social media and is open to ideas from members for all future events and activities.
