Le Saint-James – Your Tranquil Medoc Marathon Retreat

Le Saint James Hotel, Bouliac, Bordeaux

Le Saint-James Hotel is located 15 minutes from central Bordeaux and sits on the 'Balcony of Bordeaux', named for its astounding panoramic views of the region. On 12th September the Medoc marathon will be held in Pauillac. An overnight stay at the hotel during this time costs just £87.50 (based on two people sharing), making the hotel an ideal place to rejuvenate after the race, or just simply relax and let the others do the running.

Le Saint-James Hotel is a perfectly placed hub to experience the natural beauty and prestigious wines of the Aquitaine region. On the race day, roughly 10,000 runners will embrace the marathon theme 'dressed up to the nines', and embark on their 42km journey. Whether you decide to join them, or watch from the sidelines with a glass of Bordeaux's finest, the experience and atmosphere is not to be missed.

However, this is no ordinary marathon, as dotted along the route are 23 wine stops; a true celebration of the region's finest produce. Once the event is complete, each runner receives a celebratory bottle of wine, and a breathtaking firework display will explode into action, to end the day.

For those who want to sample some of the best cuisine in the Aquitaine region, Michelin starred head chef Nicolas Magie offers a sophisticated five course gastronomic experience of a lifetime, overlooking the bright lights of Bordeaux. There is even a vineyard and a state of the art cookery school at Le Saint-James, offering a wide variety of courses for adults and children.
