Laucala Island, Fiji

Laucala Island, Fiji's premier private island retreat, is excited to reopen and welcome guests from July 1, 2016. The reopening follows a forced closure earlier this year due to landscaping and decorative damage resulting from Cyclone Winston.

“The island team has worked tirelessly over the last four months refreshing the landscaping around the island and conducting regular maintenance of our villas and public spaces, bringing it back to its immaculate beauty” said Christoph Ganster, managing director of Laucala Island. “New and returning guests can expect to enjoy a pristine South Pacific environment and warm Fijian hospitality that has solidified Laucala as one of the best island retreats in the world.”

Laucala Island is spread across 3,500 acres of rainforest-laced landscapes and white sandy beaches. This exclusive tropical hideaway features 25 expansive Fijian-style villas set amid coconut plantations, beside deserted beaches and atop the island's volcanic mountains. Each villa, constructed with local timber, thatch and stone, is uniquely adorned with traditional Fijian designs and complete with private pools, indoor and outdoor showers and outside baths.

In addition to the luxurious accommodations, this ultra-all-inclusive island offers guests a selection of five restaurants and bars ranging from beachside barbeques to fine dining. Each restaurant's seasonal menu is sourced from the island's 240-acre farm where a team cultivates a wide range of organic crops and raises animals such as poultry, cows (including Wagyu), pigs and many more.

The peak of relaxation on the island is the hilltop spa where traditional Fijian therapies, organic amenities and serene settings go hand in hand. Herbs, spices, flowers and fruits are picked straight from the spa garden to create Laucala's signature scents which are incorporated into the spa's amenities, including lotions and massage oils used in the spa rituals.

This hideaway is perhaps best known for offering a kaleidoscope of sporting and cultural activities for guests of all ages. The water sports center is home to a fleet of 14 boats (include a Super Falcon submarine), as well as a dive center and equipment for windsurfing, kitesurfing, jet-skis and much more.  Guests can also explore the island on horseback or by mountain bike, spend time playing tennis or a round of golf on the 18-hole championship course designed by Scotsman David McLay Kidd. In addition, the Kids Club offers an educational and fun experience for toddlers to early teens, providing unique experiences in the cultural village as well as biking, riding ponies and various water sports activities.

Laucala Island has recently been awarded as 'Most Luxurious Hideaway of the World' by Hideaways Magazine in March 2016 and was featured on Conde Nast Traveler's Annual “Gold List 2016”.

Laucala's all-inclusive rates, encompassing a range of leisure activities, fine dining, premium wines and spirits, start from US$4,800 per night for two adults in a one-bedroom Plantation, Seagrass or Plateau villa; US$7,800 per night for four adults in a two-bedroom Plantation, Seagrass or Plateau villa; US$8,800 per night for four adults in the Overwater “Wai” villa to US$11,800 per night in a three-bedroom Plantation or Seagrass villa.
