Large-scale sculptures to be installed in Conrad Indianapolis this fall for "A Toast to Modernism"
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - (September 12, 2013) - Standing about 10 feet high, Gino Miles' bronze sculpture, "Skyward," will offer a modern art twist to the experiences of guests visiting the Conrad Indianapolis this fall.
The 600 - 800-pound sculpture -- part of Long-Sharp Gallery/ModernMasters Fine Art owner Rhonda Long-Sharp's newest lobby exhibition at the luxury hotel -- will be installed in mid-September with seven other Miles' works. Miles, a 60-year-old New Mexican artist who is inspired by the shapes he finds in the natural landscape, will be in town for the installation, Sept. 16-17. His large-scale works are installed across the United States including at the Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science (Evansville, Indiana); Spencer Museum at University of Kansas; Disney Corporate Headquarters; the cities of Cerritos and Napa, California (where his "Grape Crusher" sculpture is a National landmark); the City of Edmond, Oklahoma and Western Kentucky University (Bowling Green, Kentucky) as well as in multiple private collections.
Long-Sharp's fall show, "A Toast to Modernism," will also include a total of seven works on paper by Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), Joan Miro (1893-1983) and Henry Moore (1898-1986). It follows last fall's lobby exhibit of some of Picasso's most important works.
Please join us to toast "A Toast to Modernism" from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. October 4, during the Indianapolis Downtown Artists and Dealers Association's monthly First Friday event.
