We're used to seeing red carpets at premiers and celebrity events. But this summer, 50 Kilometres of red carpet are being laid in Liguria in a campaign that puts the spotlight on the glamour of the coastal and hinterland villages in the region.
Since the “Camminate di Primavera” event took place, thousands have had the thrill of walking on the longest red carpet in the world; a coastal walk between the Rapallo Castle and the Portofino Square. And as the region is brimming with all sorts of hidden gems, this summer the red carpet is also coming to 9 villages and 14 municipalities across Liguria.
The red carpet will connect many coastal roads in Liguria, symbolically connecting the whole region from coast to inland - reaching a total length of 50 kilometres – helping everybody to discover the extraordinary tradition and nature of Liguria.
There are three types of places taking part in the campaign; 'Charming Paths' offers walks between municipalities, allowing visitors to discover the stunning surrounding landscapes. The 'Passaborgo Project' is comprised of 8 itineraries, each 1km in length, offering tours through ancient hamlets, certified as 'Orange Flags' - the touristic hallmark of the Italian Touring Club for small places in the hinterland distinguished by excellent offers and quality accommodation.
The red carpets will add value to current food and wine, culture and landscape offerings of the municipalities that have subscribed to the 'Tourism Agreement,' including Andora, Portovenere and Triora. Genoa will host two paths: Pegli: from the 'Antonio Milani' quay in the harbour to Villa Pallavicini, known as the most beautiful park in Italy.
