We are pleased to announce that Lake Elementaita Serena Camp is now Gold eco-rated as of March 2015.

This Certification was awarded to the Camp by Ecotourism Kenya, which recognizes facilities that have achieved superior and replicable levels of excellence in environmental management, conservation, waste management, resource management, Health and safety and social cultural criteria. This follows on site eco- rating assessments to certify the camp's compliance to ecotourism principles and practices.

Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp becomes the 2nd Serena property after Sweetwaters Serena Camp and the 18th in the entire country to attain the Gold certification since the certification program began in 2002.

The Serena Group leads the field in East African eco-awareness and eco-policy implementation insisting upon eco-complementary architecture; the use of local materials, skills and labor; waste recycling; pollution-reduction and non-CFC use; solar and wind generation, low energy-use devices and heat recovery systems.
