THE NBM SHOW Will Return In 2015 After This Year's Successful Event

PHILADELPHIA, PA…October 22…Just after completing its successful 2014 show at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, THE NBM SHOW has rebooked for next year based on a positive experience with trade unions, improved customer service and the facility's expanded rules for exhibitors.

“This is a huge win and a continuation of a positive trend for the hospitality industry here in Philadelphia,” said Lorenz Hassenstein, general manager of the Center for SMG. “This is exactly what we set out to achieve – satisfying customers and winning their business.”

National Business Media, a trade magazine publisher/trade show producer specializing in the sign making/digital printing, apparel decorating and awards & engraving markets, held THE NBM SHOW Sept. 4-6 at the Convention Center. The event, which generated about $3.8 million in regional economic impact, will return to the Convention Center from Aug. 25-31, 2015. THE NBM SHOW had been set to move to Atlantic City next year.

“We are excited to be returning to Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Convention Center with THE NBM SHOW, where we believe the professional approach long shown by the Convention Center staff has finally been embraced by labor and others within the state and city,” said Susan Hueg, CEM, CMP, vice president for NBM Events based in Broomfield, Colo.

“We feel this change shows a greater understanding of the value of trade shows and the business we bring to the area. Ultimately, this respect and empathy, especially for the exhibitors who make the decisions to support our event, will make a big difference and give us the opportunity to make this a premier event in the Northeast region for the industries we serve,” Hueg said.

Hueg said that NBM found working with the Center's staff this year to be a complete reversal of the show's experiences in 2012 and 2013, describing the building's atmosphere as now client friendly.

The Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority's selection of SMG to manage the Center earlier this year and the ratification of a new Customer Satisfaction Agreement in May made NBM's decision to establish a long-time partnership easier, Hueg said.

“Thanks to the four stakeholder unions, a cohesive Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority and SMG staff at the building, and great partners at the PHLCVB, hoteliers and restaurateurs, we are building a stronger future for the hospitality industry here in Philadelphia,” said John McNichol, president & CEO of the Convention Center.Jack Ferguson, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, echoed McNichol's optimism.

“This agreement by NBM to return to Philadelphia is a strong vote of confidence and an indication that we are on the right track to long-term success at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. We are grateful to NBM for their business and the Convention Center, SMG and the PHLCVB are prepared to put our best foot forward in 2015.”
