La Paz, Bolivia And Havana, Cuba Are In New 7Wonders Cities Of The World

Journey Latin America

Following the announcement of the New7Wonders Cities of the World earlier this week in Dubai, specialist tour operator, Journey Latin America, has selected two of its best holidays to show case the reasons why La Paz,  Bolivia, and Havana, Cuba, were selected as part of the 7 cities that represent the global diversity of urban society.

La Paz:

Overlooked by the ice-jacketed Mount Illimani, the city is a busy place with a compact historic centre from which endless quirky street markets fan out, selling everything from dried llama foetuses to cameras and Levi jeans. There are also modern boulevards with cool bars and ice cream parlours, where Aymara indian ladies shuffle by in their traditional ponchos and bowler hats.

A 14-day itinerary, Andes and Altiplano, visiting Cusco, Lake Titicaca and La Paz, starts from £3,346 per person based on two people sharing and includes B&B accommodation, transfers, excursions and flights.

Havana:

This is one of Latin America's most evocative and intriguing cities - famously stuck in a time warp, with crumbling façades and junk shop furnishings, it streets choked with one-gear bikes and classic American cars. Technology-free, it embodies 1950s nostalgia. Nowadays a lot is being done to restore the baroque colonial buildings and squares, there are new restaurants and smart hotels, and local people are more involved in the modern economy. But the place hasn't lost its romance, its colour, its spontaneity, or the ever-present reminders of its unique modern history.

A 16-day itinerary, Active Cuba: Hike, cycle and salsa, visiting Havana, Vinales, Trinidad, Santiago de Cuba and Baracoa, starts from £2,793 per person based on two people sharing and includes B&B accommodation, transfers, excursions and flights.
