La Manga Club Wins Top Golf Accolade from Global Media Giant

La Manga Club

La Manga Club's status as one of the world's most popular golf and leisure resorts has received a glowing endorsement after being handed a top international accolade from Golf Digest, the world's biggest golf magazine.

Spain's flagship resort was one of an elite group of global venues to receive an 'Editors' Choice Award for Best International Resorts 2017' in the magazine's annual list of the 'Best Things in Golf'.

Unveiled in the May issue of Golf Digest - which has more than 1.6m subscribers in the US – the list was compiled in consultation with the magazine's group of 27 international affiliate titles as well as its panel of more than 1,000 golf course raters.

Max Adler, editorial director for Golf Digest, said: “We launched this program last year with the mission of identifying The Best Things in Golf, with an emphasis on lifestyle properties, products and services—and we were overwhelmed by the positive response from readers.

“Unlike our course rankings, this reward takes a wider view to consider the merits of all aspects of the resort property. Going forward, this program will continue to receive a similar editorial treatment as our annual Hot List, which has become the game's authoritative review for golf equipment.”

The award is the latest top honour to have been bestowed on La Manga Club recently – including being voted 'Spain's Best Golf Resort' by readers of the UK magazine Today's Golfer for the last six years in a row – and is further recognition for the venue's sustained investment in its extensive golf and leisure facilities.

Jose Asenjo, general manager of La Manga Club, said: “To receive this new honour is a great privilege for La Manga Club and shows the high regard tfor our resort across the world.

“Golf Digest is the world's most recognised golf publication, and to have been included in such a prestigious list demonstrates that the resort's appeal as a golf destination remains as big as ever, and is something that makes me very proud.”

Set across an area of 1,400 acres, La Manga Club has been at the forefront of European sports and leisure destinations since its inception in 1972.

Featuring three 18-hole golf courses, a nine-hole academy course and outstanding practice facilities, La Manga Club has enjoyed a rich golfing history over the last four decades. Golfing legends Gary Player, Arnold Palmer and Seve Ballesteros all figure prominently in its past, while its array of other outstanding sports and leisure amenities, bars and restaurants has helped establish it as a firm favourite with golfers worldwide.

The official overseas training base of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), the resort's unrivalled facilities as a sports and leisure destination also include a 28-court tennis centre and a 2,000sqm spa and fitness centre. In addition, it also features the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 20 bars and restaurants.
