La Manga Club Wins Top Global Golf Award for Second Year Running

La Manga Club

The five-star La Manga Club continues to set the standard for golf resorts across Spain after being the proud recipient of one of the leading accolades at the World Golf Awards for the second year running.

The multi-award-winning resort's Hotel La Manga Club Principe Felipe once again beat off competition from 17 other acclaimed venues across Spain and her islands to be named 'Spain's Best Golf Hotel' at a lavish awards ceremony in Quinta do Lago, Portugal.

La Manga Club has enjoyed another memorable 12 months following significant investment in its new golf tuition facility, featuring a Leadbetter Golf Academy – the only one in mainland Spain – including the appointment of Eduardo Ruiz as the resort's new director of golf and the elevation of its West Course among the top 100 courses in continental Europe.

José Asenjo, La Manga Club's general manager, said: “Golf has been instrumental in the success that La Manga Club has enjoyed over the last four decades and to win this honour for the second year in a row is an outstanding achievement for the resort.

“This accolade is testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at the resort into keeping La Manga Club at the forefront of sports destinations across Europe.

“These are exciting times for us and, under the leadership of Eduardo Ruiz, we're looking forward to the resort and our golf product continuing to flourish in the years ahead.”

La Manga Club's famous South Course – a five-time host of the Spanish Open – was also shortlisted in the category for 'Spain's Best Golf Course' at the event, which featured leading golf industry figures from around the world including guest of honour, legendary commentator Peter Alliss, and European Tour and Ryder Cup stalwart Bernard Gallacher, recipient of the 'Lifetime Achievement' award.

Set in an area three times the size of Monaco and regarded as Spain's flagship resort, La Manga Club's golf facilities include three 18-hole courses, a nine-hole academy course and outstanding practice amenities.

Golfing legends including the likes of Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Spain's favourite golfing son Severiano Ballesteros all feature prominently in the resort's illustrious history, with its wide array of outstanding sports and leisure amenities, bars and restaurants helping to establish it as a firm favourite with visiting golfers.

Among its recent accolades, La Manga Club was shortlisted at the 2015 Family Traveller Awards and handed the accolade of 'Best Golf Resort in Spain' by UK readers of Today's Golfer magazine for the fourth year running, as well as being named as one of the top five golf resorts in the world at the prestigious 2015 UltraTravel Awards.

As well as golf, the resort's extensive facilities also include a 28-court tennis academy, a new High Performance Sports Centre and 2,000m² spa and fitness complex, a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 20 bars and restaurants.
