LA MANGA CLUB TARGETS DOUBLE SUCCESS AT 2015 WORLD GOLF AWARDS

Regarded as Spain's flagship resort, La Manga Club is in contention for double success at the World Golf Awards for the second year running after being shortlisted for two leading honours at the 2015 event, which will take place in Portugal in November.

Named 'Best Golf Course in Spain' at the inaugural award ceremony last year, the award-winning venue's South Course has once again been shortlisted for the top award, while its five-star Hotel Principe Felipe is hoping to defend the title of 'Spain's Best Golf Hotel' when the 2015 winners are announced on Saturday, November 7.

A five-time host of the Spanish Open, the iconic South Course has hosted numerous high-profile professional and amateur tournaments for more than four decades and remains at the forefront of European golf.

As well as being chosen to host the 2015 Spanish Ladies Seniors Championship, the famous par-73 layout also held the 2nd La Manga Club PGAs of Europe Pro-Am this spring, while the resort's luxurious hotel has hosted the likes of David Beckham, Robbie Williams and Hollywood stars Matt Damon and Liam Neeson.

Voted by readers of Today's Golfer magazine as the best golf resort in Spain for the last four years, La Manga Club deserves its reputation as one of the world's top sports and leisure destinations and was also shortlisted as one of only five esteemed venues for the 'Best Golf Resort in the World' at the 2014 Telegraph Ultratravel 100 Awards.

Jose Asenjo, general manager of La Manga Club, said: “To win two awards at last year's World Golf Awards was a great honour and testament to the high standards of customer service that we strive to deliver at all times at the resort.

“La Manga Club holds a special place in the hearts of golfers all over the world, and to be shortlisted again shows the high regard that the resort continues to be held in.”

Featuring outstanding facilities including three 18-hole championship golf courses and an array of other five-star sports and leisure amenities and numerous bars and restaurants, La Manga Club added to its world-class facilities last year by opening its new Leadbetter Golf Academy – the only such facility in mainland Spain.

In addition, the resort offers the ideal place for budding sports stars of the future to hone their skills with a wide selection of academies for boys and girls of all ages including golf, tennis, cricket, rugby, athletics, football and dance, and a range of fun-packed activities in its junior club.

As well as golf, La Manga Club boasts unrivalled facilities as a sports and leisure destination including a 28-court tennis academy, a new High Performance Sports Centre and a 2,000sqm spa and fitness centre. It also offers the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 20 bars and restaurants.

Voting for the 2015 World Golf Awards is open until late autumn, with the winners set to be crowned at a lavish gala ceremony at the Conrad Algarve, Quinta do Lago, on Saturday, November 7.
