La Manga Club Nets New Global Tennis Media Partner

La Manga Club

La Manga Club's status among the world's elite tennis resorts is set to rise to new heights after partnering with The Tennis Podcast, one of the game's most exciting and innovative new media outlets.

The award-winning sports and leisure destination resort in Murcia, south-east Spain, will feature in every edition of the podcast after becoming an official sponsor of the downloadable tennis radio show, which has become essential listening for fans around the world.

Started in 2012, The Tennis Podcast is hosted by Eurosport presenter Catherine Whitaker and BBC Radio 5 Live commentator David Law and is produced on a weekly basis, with daily editions during the four Grand Slam tournaments. It has been downloaded more than five million times since its launch, while more than 10,000 people listened to the show on a daily basis during this month's Australian Open.

Under the terms of the new agreement, La Manga Club will also be promoted on the podcast's website and social media channels, while the resort will have the chance to run a selection of promotional offers to the podcast's listeners.

José Asenjo, general manager at La Manga Club, said: “Everyone at the resort is thrilled to be working with such a respected tennis outlet as The Tennis Podcast.

“La Manga Club is always interested in finding new ways to engage with tennis audiences, and working with the programme will help bring us to the attention of a range of new enthusiasts worldwide.”

The only professionally-produced regular tennis podcast in the world, The Tennis Podcast has featured some of the biggest names in the tennis and sporting world, with guests including Andy Murray, John McEnroe and Martina Navratilova, and, from outside the game, Jose Mourinho, David Beckham and the boy band One Direction.

Law and Whitaker both experienced La Manga Club's extensive sports and leisure facilities– which includes a 28-court tennis centre – for themselves during individual visits last summer and are relishing the opportunity to work with the resort.

Law said: “We are thrilled to welcome La Manga Club as a sponsor of The Tennis Podcast. Everywhere we go, professional coaches and players talk about how good its tennis facilities and programmes are, and we got to sample that for ourselves last summer. With their help, we will be able to grow The Tennis Podcast and reach a new audience.”

Whitaker added: “La Manga Club is full of people that love the sport of tennis just the way we do, so it's a perfect fit. The coaching team could not have been more helpful and professional when I visited and they revolutionised my tennis game last summer.”

Enjoying an average of more than 300 days' sunshine a year, La Manga Club – which recently celebrated its 45th anniversary – offers the perfect destination for professionals and amateurs to work on all aspects of their tennis techniques under sunny skies at the venue's world-class 28-court centre.

The official overseas training base of the Lawn Tennis Association, the resort's extensive other facilities include three 18-hole golf courses and a Golf Training Centre, a High Performance Sports Centre and 2,000m² Wellness Centre. There is also a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 15 bars and restaurants.
