La Manga Club Charts New Course With Junior Sailing Break

La Manga Club

Ben Ainslie secured his place in Olympic yachting history at London 2012 and budding stars of the future have the chance to follow in his footsteps by learning the ropes at an exciting new junior sailing camp at Spain's La Manga Club at the end of this month.

Ainslie claimed his fourth successive gold medal last summer to become the most successful Olympic sailor ever and children can launch their new interest in yachting with the resort's new all-inclusive break from April 27 to May 1.

Available to boys and girls aged ten to 15 and costing €750 (£680 approx), the five-day programme will take place on the famous Mar Menor on the Costa Calida coast and features tuition, training and advice on all aspects of sailing from La Manga Club's experienced team of experts.

In addition, the package also includes full board accommodation - based on two children sharing a room - in the award-winning venue's fully-serviced four-star Las Lomas Village apartments, with a ten per cent discount available for parents staying in the apartments or the resort's five-star hotel.

Located just five minutes from La Manga Club, the Mar Menor is the largest salt lake in Europe, measuring 22 miles long and 180 square kilometres in total, and is the ideal place to enjoy a wide range of watersports.

Top Spanish Volvo Ocean Race sailor Diego Fructuoso recently became an ambassador for La Manga Club and sailing is just one of the sports on offer to children over the coming months at the resort, which continues to set the benchmark for sports and leisure destinations across Europe. Youngsters can enhance their skills at a number of other first-class academies run by the award-winning resort including tennis, cricket, rugby and football, as well as the fun-packed range of activities in the junior club.

In addition, the world-famous Real Madrid Junior Football Academy will be staged for the second year running in July and, after a successful debut in 2012, the Michael Owen Rugby Academy will return for a four-week spell during July and August.

Daley Thompson's Adventure Fitness company will also be back to hold its popular athletics courses - designed by the double Olympic gold medallist and overseen by world-class athletes - during the summer holidays which cover a range of track and field disciplines.

La Manga Club boasts unrivalled facilities as a sports and leisure destination including three 18-hole championship golf courses, a 28-court tennis centre and a 2,000m² spa and fitness centre. As well as offering the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 20 bars and restaurants, it is great fun for adults and children alike.
