Kyoto Convention & Visitors Bureau (KCB) has re-appointed travel, lifestyle and destination PR specialists McCluskey International as the representatives for PR activity in the UK.
McCluskey International has represented KCB for the past two years, promoting the city to travel trade and UK media, and following a change in focus from 100% trade activity to a full consumer PR brief, the account went up for pitch worldwide in 2014 with McCluskey re-awarded the account in the UK.
The agency's objectives continue to be focused around raising awareness of the city amongst British travellers and McCluskey International will carry-out a strategic consumer PR plan to support KCB throughout 2014. Activity will include a heavy-weight press office calendar including press trips, high-profile brand-affinity partnerships, events and social media.
McCluskey International's Agency Principal, Judy McCluskey, commented: “It really is a great honour for our team to continue to represent Kyoto in the UK market and we hope to remain a part of Kyoto's growing success as one of Japan's leading destinations. Over the past few years, our team has developed a great passion for the destination and we are thrilled to continue to use our expertise to raise the city's profile in the UK.
“Furthermore, with Japanese cuisine earning UNESCO world heritage status this year, numerous hotel openings including the Ritz-Carlton and new alternative ways to see the ancient cultural secrets of Kyoto, we are never short of subjects to pique media and visitor's interest. For example, Kyoto has just launched a new website, the Ryokan Experience which enables tourists to see the majority of Kyoto's traditional inns or Ryokan all together in one place and reserve online. This is the first time that this traditional Japanese hospitality has opened the door so wide to travellers from all over the world.”
