Apart from the ones in Warsaw, Krakow's restaurants are the only ones in Poland recommended in the famous Michelin guide - currently there are as many as 26 of them. Over twice that number has been listed in Gaullt et Millau's "yellow guide".
Krakow boasts all crucial resources and values, which are essential for excellent gastronomy - fine recipes, high quality products from local suppliers, hospitality and great atmosphere. City's genius loci is present not only in architecture and history, but also in gastronomic heritage of the city. There are numerous restaurants at Main Market Square, over the Wisla River and in the former Jewish District – Kazimierz, where everybody can taste unique dishes. Some great chefs come from Krakow including Marcin Filipkiewicz (the Copernicus Hotel Restaurant), who in 2017 received a title Chef of the Future (Chef de l'Avenir) awarded by the European Academy of Gastronomy.
The activities will be carried out throughout year and include, just to mention a few, such as Congress of Gastronomy, degustation and cooking "pop-ups", meetings of Krakow's and international chefs, also those of three Michelin stars. "Virtual cooking" – which will gather chefs from different corners of Europe. They will connect on-line to prepare dishes inspired by Poland's and Krakow cuisine.
