Kleine Zallze's Golden Touch Extends To Its Maiden MCC

Kleine Zalze Lodge

South Africa, Cape Town, March 2014; A NEW DAWN HAS BROKEN FOR KLEINE ZALZE. This week, the celebrated Stellenbosch wine farm launches its maiden Méthode Cap Classique – bringing even more appeal to its popular portfolio of superlative wines.

The Kleine Zalze Méthode Cap Classique Vintage Brut 2010 is a classically-style sparkling wine crafted from the best, selected vineyard parcels of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Intense and rich, the full-bodied wine delivers a tantalizing dance of fine bubbles, elegance and balance.

The launch of our first MCC marks a milestone in the history of Kleine Zalze,” says Managing Director Kobus Basson. “It also marks the beginning of a new chapter in our exciting journey as a proud South African wine producer.”

In the great tradition of every Kleine Zalze wine, the Kleine Zalze Méthode Cap Classique Vintage Brut 2010 is a testament to labour of love, patience and skill in the vineyards and cellar.

It was a perfect harvest that produced its fruit, says Kleine Zalze cellarmaster Johan Joubert. Slow ripening allowed for the optimal development of the grapes. “The launch of an MCC could not have had better timing – nature conspired to produce its best expression of our soils and climate.

The result is a wine with classic MCC characteristics, providing the delicious aroma of freshly baked brioche and biscotti with a rich lees-creaminess and tantalizing mineral richness on the palate.

The wine came about as a natural progression, Kobus Basson says. “We've always wanted to make an MCC. Having worked hard to establish Kleine Zalze as a quality producer of exceptional wines, we knew the time was right to accept the challenge of making an MCC."

Kleine Zalze wines have consistently featured among top performers in wine shows locally and abroad. It was one of only three producers to receive an inaugural platinum award at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards. Six of its wines have achieved five-star status in the highly regarded Platter's South African Wine Guide.

The Kleine Zalze MCC is a statement in celebration,” says Basson. “It is Kleine Zalze's way of reflecting on the success we have enjoyed in the past and a celebration of the opportunities that lie ahead.”

The Kleine Zalze Méthode Cap Classique Vintage Brut 2010 will be available at selected specialist wine outlets and at the cellar, and sell for around R140 a bottle.
