Planet Travel Holidays

Emerging from the shadow of kitesurfing and windsurfing, kitefoiling is probably one of the most exciting ways to have fun in a wetsuit!

So, what exactly is kitefoiling? It's the new form of kitesurfing - that crazy sport where surfers use wind power to launch them up metres into the air and catch epic waves in an adrenaline-fuelled waterborne adventure. With kitefoiling, riders use a board with a carbon fibre hydrofoil fin attached below and a large kite fitted above. Using wind generated speed and balance, the entire board rises out of the water and hovers effortlessly above the water. Once mastered, the thrill of 'flying' or hovering smoothly above the water at high speed is the main appeal.

Planet Kitesurf has handpicked destinations that offer the perfect conditions for kitefoiling. The trips offer expert tuition, the latest equipment and are tailor-made; whether you are learning to foil or looking to improve your technique there is a holiday to suit all skill levels and budgets. If travelling with a non-kitefoiling partner or a family who would prefer to stay dry, these holidays also offer stunning beaches and plenty of other sports and activities to enjoy.

Best for Beginners: Dakhla, Morocco
With unbeatable wind conditions and plenty of flat and shallow waters all year round, Dakhla is one of the best spots on the planet to learn to kitefoil. This kitefoiling holiday is located at Camp Dakhla, on the shores of the lagoon. Accommodation is a collection of bungalows surrounded by white-sand dunes, which offer direct access to the beach and the waves. For more advanced kitefoilers or kitesurfers there are a number of wave spots offering excellent wave surfing conditions.

Best for Beginners and Culture Vultures: Golf De Roses, Spain
Unlike the rest of the Costa Brava, the sandy bay of Roses is very spacious, and by far the windiest spot on the Catalan coast. Several sandbanks in the water turn the spot into a semi-shallow water area with a huge, fine sandy beach sloping gently into the water. Already a popular destination for wind and kite surfers, Planet Kitesurf is now offering kite foiling lessons using the latest Kiteboarding Hydrofoils. Ideal for beginners, these foils provide a wide stable surface area that helps to keep the board under control and also include safety rails making it easier to ride and ultimately help the rider get airborne quicker. When not on the water, there is a great selection of tapas bars and restaurants to explore as well as the medieval village of Sant Marti d'Empuries with its famous archaeological sites. Further afield in the Pyrenees, rafting and canyoning trips can be organised. Planet Kitesurf offers a range of accommodation at Golf De Roses to suit all budgets.
A seven-night stay at Catalan Boutique now costs from £690pp (a saving of £110pp). The price includes accommodation on a B&B basis and two-sharing, flights, transfers and equipment hire.

This stunning island has a great range of luxury hotels just a few kilometres from the huge lagoon of Long Beach and Planet Kitesurf's dedicated kite surf/foil centre offers state-of-the-art equipment and teaching. The waters also offer exceptional diving, snorkelling and other water sports activities that non-kiting partners or families can enjoy.

Expert guidance is provided by kitefoiling masters, Danny Morrice, one of the UK's most competent free ride foilers and Rob Claisse, a past world champion windsurfer and kitefoiler enthusiast. As well as plenty of other watersports to experience, there are also a number of land-based activities to try such yoga and there are plenty of hiking and biking trails nearby to explore. There is also an extensive spa providing a selection of pampering
treatments to soothe and loosen muscles after a hard day on the water.
