Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants Adds New Hotels in San Antonio, Texas And Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has announced the addition of two boutique hotels in San Antonio, Texas and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Scheduled to open in 2014 and 2015 respectively, the hotels will increase the boutique hotel group's already impressive collection of 58 hotels and 67 restaurants, bars and lounges in 24 North American cities.

The 146-room, San Antonio hotel is an adaptive reuse project and will be located downtown on the site of the historic Pearl Brewery. Dating back to 1881, this cultural mixed-use space now houses a riverside amphitheatre, Culinary Institute of America campus, restaurants, shops and scenic green spaces, and the boutique Kimpton hotel will be an important cornerstone of the development.

Elizabeth Fauerso, Chief Marketing Officer of Pearl, said: "Kimpton is the recognised leader in adaptive reuse development projects. San Antonio is already emerging as a hot destination for culinary travel and Kimpton has a great reputation for both chef-driven restaurants, creative services and amenities and warm, personal service that will take the Pearl experience to a whole new level."

The San Antonio hotel will be Kimpton's third in Texas, joining the Hotel Lumen and Hotel Palomar in Dallas. Kimpton CEO Mike Depatie said: "Texas is a great growth market for us and the ability to expand into San Antonio as part of such an iconic property and popular destination is especially thrilling for us. With a long history of creating chef-driven, locally-loved restaurants adjacent to our hotels, we're even more excited to be a part of this new culinary and hotel destination."

The new Milwaukee hotel is centrally-located and will be one of the first upscale boutique hotels in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward. Featuring an eight-storey building, the hotel will boast 158 rooms, a chef-driven restaurant, rooftop bar and fitness centre. Originally an industrial and warehouse district in the late 1800s, today the Historic Third Ward is the city's arts and fashion hub and features art galleries and studios, the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and the Art Institute. The neighbourhood is also known for the Milwaukee Riverwalk, which connects the district with Downtown Milwaukee; the Milwaukee Public Market; and Summerfest, the world's largest music festival.

The hotel represents the expansion of Kimpton's presence in the Midwest, including its four Chicago hotels - Hotel Allegro, Hotel Burnham, Hotel Palomar and Hotel Monaco - and the Grand Hotel in Minneapolis. Depatie said: "We're thrilled to be growing our Kimpton footprint in the Midwest. Milwaukee, in particular the Third Ward and its eclectic and artistic character, fits perfectly with our hotel collection."

Both hotels will embody the much-loved Kimpton brand, offering guests authentic service and signature playful touches. These include the complimentary hosted evening wine hour and new yoga amenities, featuring custom designed yoga mats in all guestrooms with complimentary roll-out service.
