Kangaroo Island Adventure Tours won the Best Tour/Activity in South Australia at the annual TNT Golden Backpack Awards held recently in Sydney.

The awards are the only National awards for the backpacker sector and are decided on by the consumer, with backpackers voting for their favourite hostel, tour and tour/activity in every state and territory in Australia and across the Tasman. As well as the consumer vote, all those nominated were also judged by a secret shopper.

Kangaroo Island Adventure Tours operates a one night/two day Kangaroo Island Wilderness Explorer Tour that delivers pristine wilderness, spectacular coastlines, amazing beaches and unrivalled wildlife encounters.

The tour is ideal for the spirited traveller who likes the intimacy of small groups and getting off the beaten track and each group is hosted by an entertaining local guide who provides informative, friendly and fun commentary.

The adventure begins the moment guests step off the ferry at the SeaLink Ferry terminal at Penneshaw and board their air-conditioned Coach for a two day once in a lifetime experience.

The tour visits Rob's Shearing & Sheep Dogs, Seal Bay, Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch, Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and Little Sahara for a thrilling sand-board ride.

Overnight accommodation is at Vivonne Bay Lodge, the 206 hectare private bush property at Vivonne Bay, where guests stay in comfortable dormitory or private room accommodation and dinner and continental breakfast is included.

The Kangaroo Island Wilderness Explorer Tour is priced from $436 per person and includes return SeaLink Coach transfers from selected Adelaide hotels and hostels to Cape Jervis, return SeaLink ferry transfers from Cape Jervis to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island, two days touring in an air-conditioned coach, all entry and guided tour fees to Kangaroo Island attractions and overnight dormitory accommodation (share bathrooms), breakfast, two lunches and dinner at Vivonne Bay Lodge.

The Kangaroo Island Wilderness Tour departs daily from December to March (excluding 24th and 25th December), every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday in April and November, every Wednesday and Saturday from May to August and every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from September to October.
