Just one round of golf sits between 16 candidates and their dream job.

Last year, in the midst of the recession, Your Golf Travel.com offered a ray of light to anyone who�d lost their job or dreamed of escaping the rat race when they announced the ultimate job in golf.

The role gives one lucky individual the opportunity to spend a year representing Europe�s largest golf travel company while playing courses around the globe including Turnberry, Pebble Beach and St Andrews.

Applicants had to have a handicap of 18 or less and write an article detailing their credentials for the role. From the thousands of applicants a shortlist of 36 were interviewed before being whittled down to the final 16 who will do battle in a Stableford competition on Celtic Manor�s 2010 Ryder Cup course this Friday [January 29].

The eventual winner will receive a 12-month contract as Your Golf Travel.com�s global product development manager and will be responsible for managing relationships with courses and hotels to ensure customers get even better deals, driving the company�s brand through new business avenues and writing reviews on a variety of courses and hotels within Your Golf Travel.com�s 1,500 strong portfolio of destinations.

Financial institutes feature strongly in the backgrounds of candidates reaching the final stage with finalists� CVs regularly featuring the likes of Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital.

Your Golf Travel.com�s managing director, Andrew Harding, said: �When unemployment reached record levels last year we realised companies had to find innovative ways to create new jobs.

�A lot of talented individuals have been released from companies making cutbacks and this could be a dream job for someone who was devastated at losing theirs not too long ago.

�The response has been overwhelming and the calibre of candidates extremely high � any one of the finalists will be a great addition to our team.�
