1 Tornado Locomotive breaks
Three new journeys on a steam train pulled by the legendary No. 60163 locomotive Tornado are now available to book. The trips, which all take place on scenic railways within Yorkshire and the East of England, include:
- Tornado Steam Train – North Yorkshire Moors Railway: a two-day break, including the 75-minute train trip through the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, from Grosmont to Pickering and back, with time to look around the heritage-themed stations. - Tornado Steam Train & Classic Cambridge: a three-day holiday, including a 75-minute train ride on the scenic Nene Valley Railway, on a round-trip from Wansford to Peterborough. Plus, there will be a trip to Cambridge, with highlights such as the beautiful university architecture and punting along the River Cam. Price £195 per person, based on two sharing, including return coach travel, two nights' dinner, bed and breakfast at a selected hotel, trip to Cambridge and the train journey.
2 The Royal Scot on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway
The highlight of The Royal Scot Steam Train & The Railway Children will be a ride behind one of the world's greatest steam engines, Royal Scot, which will be puffing its way along the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for a limited time in June. Built in 1927 and retired in 1962, this popular engine returned to work in 2015 after a major overhaul. On the first leg of the approximate 80-minute trip, from either Oxenhope or Haworth to Keighley, the passenger carriages will be pulled by one of the local collection of locos. Royal Scot will link up at Keighley for a glorious return journey, passing through the wild and rugged moors of Brontë country on a nostalgic route that appeared in the iconic 1970s' film The Railway Children. Price £140 per person, based on two sharing, including return coach travel from multiple pick-up points, one night's dinner, bed and breakfast in an en-suite room at a selected hotel, and the train journey.
3 Southern Ireland Steam Train Adventure
The first 100 people to book the new eight-day tour Southern Ireland Steam Train Adventure are being offered a saving of £100 per person on the full price of £1,350. This delightful rail odyssey around the Emerald Isle, which has just one departure date, 2 September 2018, departs Dublin to call by Killarney and Westport before returning to the capital. Created in association with the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland, the trip includes three journeys by heritage steam train, interspersed with free days and optional excursions to explore more of the country.
