Relationships between PR professionals and both journalists and influencers come under the spotlight for the Tourism Society's 10th annual Media Masterclass this Monday, 19 November, at the Hard Rock Café in London.
The event, for which only a few final tickets remain unsold, is themed 'Blurred Lines: PR Engagement with Journalists and Influencers', and features a panel of top specialists from the worlds of journalism and social media.
The masterclass will look at the roles of editors, journalists, bloggers and social media influencers, and consider how PRs can best work with them in today's ever changing media landscape.
The 2018 Media Masterclass aims to bring travel and tourism PR professionals, as well as marketing and media specialists together for an evening of learning and networking.
The panel of experts comprises Caroline Lewis (Harpers Bazaar); Gavin McOwan (The Guardian); Hannah Summers (Freelance); James Stewart (Freelance), and Sarah Lee (Freelance), with the event chaired by Henry Hemming of TravMedia.
Hot topics under the spotlight include:
- The changing media landscape and the threats and opportunities posed by social media
- The interaction between journalists and PR professionals regarding pitching content
- The role of influencers and their increasing impact on travel industry marketing
- Strategies for successful publicity campaigns
Attendees will learn helpful tips for interacting with editors, journalists, bloggers and influencers; best practices for pitching story ideas to the press, and how to best build and maintain relationships with media professionals. The event features presentations from all speakers and an audience Q&A session.
