Providing updates on the much anticipated Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign, YB Tuan Mohamaddin bin Ketapi, Minister of Tourism, Art and Culture Malaysia will also share details on tourism arrivals and the government's long term strategy for tourism. Guest speaker, Sophie Radcliffe will then share her personal experiences of Malaysia, in particular, her adventures in Borneo, where she took part in her first jungle challenge, summiting Mount Kinabalu. The week-long adventure race involved mountain biking, trail running, kayaking, white water rafting, jungle-camp-building, bartering in local markets and climbing to the summit of Mount Kinabalu. At 4095m, it's the highest mountain in SE Asia and arriving to the summit at sunrise was the end of the challenge. Since quitting her desk job, Sophie has racked up challenges the way the rest of us accumulate post-it notes, from climbing the highest eight peaks in the Alps to racing 1,600 miles across the USA and pedalling from London to Paris in 24 hours not once, but nine times. Her motivation? To empower herself through adventure and break down barriers for women, a conviction that can be explored on her blog, www.challengesophie.com, and through her TrailBlazers programme, with workshops to boost self-esteem among teenage girls and boys. Open to all media.
