Skyros Writers' Lab teachers, all established authors, will help you to find your way, unearth the artist in you and compose your story in tune with the laws of beauty, ever present even in times of distress. As will the beautiful Greek island environment. Remember, poet and novelist Rainer Maria Rilke heard the first lines of his elegies in the wind whilst walking on the rocks above the sea. 

Of course, you may not end up with a 24-carat story. You may not be able either to write your novel in just seven days as George Simenon did with most of his Maigret stories. But your narrative, initially a few thoughts rolling up and down in your mind before gathering momentum and form, can give, like a painting, a visual quality to the pleasures and pains of your characters. Words contain not only meanings but also feelings and history and musical scales and images. 

The result can make you proud of your work. But even if you don't end up where you would have liked to, the endeavour will help you to sort out your thoughts while giving you at the same time a chance to exchange the stories of your life with friendly people on a similar wavelength. All of this in an idyllic Greek island setting that has been home-from-home for Skyros holidays for the past 37 years.

The Writers' Lab, established by Skyros Holidays in the eighties, runs both week-long and two week-long courses.
