Second Retravel Live event tackles travel's responsibility to better protect animals
Please join world-renowned ethologist and environmentalist Dr. Jane Goodall, and G Adventures' founder, Bruce Poon Tip, for an engaging online conversation about travel's impact on wildlife around the world and how we, as travellers, can do our part to help protect the magnificent creatures we share our planet with.
This event is the second in G Adventures' Retravel Live series, which see leading figures from across the industry tackle the most pressing issues facing travel today. Calling on consumers, travel agents, suppliers and media to tune-in, Retravel Live will shine a light on the power of people to enact change and contribute to making the new way of travel better for everyone.
Alongside her groundbreaking research on chimpanzees, Dr. Goodall has always advocated for more compassionate choices regarding our world's wildlife — an idea that's equally as important for travel choices as well. Together, we'll talk about how our travel plans can make a difference, while tackling important questions from our audience along the way.

G Adventures' founder, Bruce Poon Tip, says he is honoured to be sitting down with one of his biggest heroes, Dr. Jane Goodall.
“Dr. Jane Goodall has been an inspiration to me since I started G Adventures 30 years ago. Partnering with the Jane Goodall Institute Canada to form the Jane Goodall Collection of tours in 2016 was a true milestone for our company and it's a privilege to continue the legacy of her work by raising awareness of animal protection with our travel community around the world,” says Poon Tip.
More about our featured panellists:
- Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE - Founder – the Jane Goodall Institute & UN Messenger of Peace
At the young age of 26, Jane Goodall followed her passion for animals and Africa to Gombe, Tanzania, where she began her landmark study of chimpanzees in the wild. Her discovery in 1960 that chimpanzees make and use tools rocked the scientific world and redefined the relationship between humans and animals. In 1977, Dr. Goodall established the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) which continues the field research at Gombe and builds on Dr. Goodall's innovative approach to conservation. Today, Dr. Goodall travels the world, speaking about the threats facing chimpanzees, environmental crises and her reasons for hope. G Adventures partnered with JGI Canada in 2016 to deliver the Jane Goodall Collection of tours, a program of wildlife-focused trips worldwide endorsed by Dr. Goodall, who also supports G Adventures' comprehensive animal welfare policy announced the same year.
- Bruce Poon Tip - Founder, G Adventures (host and moderator)
Passionate about the power of travel to change the world for the better, Bruce Poon Tip is a global leader in social entrepreneurship, leadership, immersive travel, and innovation. In 2020, Bruce was honoured as one of Fast Company's Most Creative People in Business, and released an instabook titled Unlearn: The Year the Earth Stood Still.
The first Retravel Live event was held on September 30 and covered the impact of the shift from 'overtourism' to 'undertourism', whether the new buzzword 'regenerative travel' is more than just a fad, and how travellers can take actionable steps to 'retravel' better when they book their next holiday. Guest panelists were Elizabeth Becker, author of Overbooked, Juliet Kinsman, sustainability editor at Conde Nast Traveller U.K. and George Stone, editor in chief of National Geographic Traveler.
