Jetsetter Magazine releases a dedicated cruising special in time for the holidays.
Hong Kong 23/12/13 - Experiential travel and lifestyle magazine JETSETTER has released its winter 2013 issue, with a focus on the fastest growing segment in the Asian travel scene - cruising. Timed to coincide with the traditional booking period of summer cruises in the northern hemisphere and with the opening of the new international cruise terminal in Hong Kong, the Cruising Special focuses on less conventional cruise holidays.
"The whole idea of this special issue is to showcase cruising's diversity," says Jetsetter managing editor and founder of boutique magazine group Artemis Communications Nick Walton. "Traditionally cruising has catered to the mass market, with only a few lines offering luxury cruise products - but that's changing. The growth in boutique river cruising and expeditionary cruising means many travellers who had not previously thought about taking a 'cruise' are now hitting the world's waterways. This issue is packed with experiential cruise concepts for adventurous, affluent travelers that are a far cry from those mass market concepts."
In the winter issue readers will travel the globe, from exploring the farthest reaches of Myanmar's Chindwin River on Orient-Express' new Orcaella river cruiser, to discovering the ancient landscapes of the Australian Kimberley with the newly named National Geographic Orion, and sailing through history on the Danube with Scenic Cruises' 'space ship' Scenic Pearl. Readers can also choose their own cruise vacation with a comprehensive update on the top new ships entering service in the year to come.
There is also plenty on offer for non-cruisers in the winter issue. Gayatri Bhaumik heads to Sri Lanka, one of Asia's hottest emerging destinations, to discover luxury without the crowds, while Nick Walton makes tracks to the Maldives to discover a slice of Parisian charm in the tropics at the newly opened Cheval Blanc Randheli. There are also boutique hotels in Athens, 24 hours hitting the pubs and museums of Dublin, and tastebuds trails through Singapore in The Bite.
In Jetsetter's regular Lifestyle section look out for flower power in Hong Kong with chef Bjoern Alexander Panek; read about American rye whisky's renaissance, sate your caviar fix with the Food Adventures feature, learn how Cabernet Franc saves Christmas, and test drive the sleek new Ghibli from Maserati.
"This looks to be our best issue yet," says Jetsetter publisher and owner of Channel 1 Hong Kong Denis Fahy. "Over the past four years Jetsetter has built up a loyal readership of experiential travelers from Across Asia, and our travel and luxury industry partners have recognized that Jetsetter's comprehensive in-room and in-lounge distribution delivers their messages directly to these affluent consumers. Combining world class editorial and photography, this issue will further bolster the magazine's reputation for travel and lifestyle excellence."
