Japan holidays surge as the Rugby World Cup tempts UK fans into booking a trip to the land of the rising sun
Japan has emerged as one of the must-visit places in 2019 for UK tourists, with online travel agents Travel Republic reporting a 105% increase in bookings from last year!
Famous for its historic culture, ancient landscapes and advanced technology, Japan is on the must-visit list for many holidaymakers in 2019. It's also the destination of this year's Rugby World Cup, which has seen an increase in bookings over the tournament period by 62%, compared to the same period in 2018.
Japan isn't the only country to have benefited from major sporting events boosting tourism numbers. Back in 2018, Travel Republic saw an increase in bookings to Russia by 80%, compared to the same period in 2017, thanks to the FIFA World Cup.
In the past two years March, April and September have been the most popular months for visitors to travel to Japan. March and April coincides nicely with the blooming of Tokyo's famous Cherry Blossom, just make sure to doublecheck official estimates for when this may happen in 2020 to ensure you don't miss out!
