For these events 150 specially invited guests will watch Jamaica's superstar athletes compete whilst being treated to a selection of traditional Jamaican food and drink as the track and field events take centre stage.

In attendance will be Jamaica's newly-appointed Director of Tourism, Paul Pennicook, along with Jamaica's Minister of Tourism and Entertainment, the Hon Dr. Wykeham McNeill. They will be in Glasgow to support the Jamaican athletes and further strengthen the close links between Scotland and Jamaica.

Elizabeth Fox, Regional Director for UK and N. Europe at the Jamaica Tourist Board said: “The staging of Jamaica House 2014 in Glasgow is all about championing our great island at a time when Jamaica's sporting excellence looks set to dominate the Games. With great offers for holidays to Jamaica from Barrhead Travel and with the increased airlift from Scotland to Jamaica, thanks to Thomson Airways, there's never been a better time to visit the island.

“Jamaica has always shown a keen interest in the Commonwealth Games since hosting the 1966 Games in Kingston, and with Jamaica's close historical links to Scotland, our new Director of Tourism and Minister of Tourism and Entertainment felt it was hugely important to be in attendance in Glasgow.

“We are sure that the next 11 days will bring further celebrations for Jamaica and we look forward to opening the doors to Jamaica House Glasgow 2014 and showing the world what Jamaica has to offer.”
