In support of the Jamaican Diaspora UK National Conference taking place from 13 – 15 June 2014, the Jamaica Tourist Board is embarking on a campaign to get UK-based Jamaicans and those of Jamaican heritage to share what makes them proud to be Jamaican.
Today, the Jamaica Tourist Board launched their 'It's a Jamaican Ting' campaign encouraging first to fourth generation Jamaicans to share short, personal anecdotes and pearls of wisdom highlighting the best things about being Jamaican, or what you love about Jamaica and its people. For instance, what did you learn as a child growing up in Jamaica or from your Jamaican parents or grandparents, that have made you the fine person you are today? Or, what are your Jamaican 'secrets' to good health and wellbeing?
The best answers in 15 words or less, sent by email to the Jamaica Tourist Board will be chosen to win a selection of prizes and shared on a 'Team Jamaica' poster which will be officially revealed at the JDUK conference in Birmingham in June.
To take part and for the chance to be included on the Team Jamaica poster, entrants should send a sentence of up to 15 words or anecdote to teamjamaica@mccluskey.co.uk by 30th May 2014.
The Jamaica Diaspora UK was established in 2004 to encourage the participation and awareness of the Jamaican community throughout the UK. The Fourth Biennial Jamaican Diaspora UK National Conference will be held from 13 - 15 June 2014 at The Centennial Centre in the West Midlands and will highlight key initiatives for all Jamaicans in the UK and in Jamaica, through a series of workshops and seminars.
