Visit Jacksonville and the Beaches

Jacksonville is teeming with world-class beaches, restaurants to try and plenty of tourist attractions. And for dog parents who wish to bring their pooches everywhere with them, it's easy to find the best dog-friendly places throughout the city.

Whether you and your four-legged best friend are seeking an outdoor adventure or a chill, relaxing weekend, both options are available in Jax. The city's too fantastic to explore alone, so put your dog on a leash and get ready for an exciting trip.

Flying in

Jacksonville International Airport has two designated bathroom areas. A pet and service animal relief area, which is located inside the terminal past security, includes a mock front porch area with seating, a hand-washing sink, pickup bag dispenser and waste receptacles. A second area is located outside baggage claim on the south side of the terminal.

Get some beach time

Jacksonville is home to 22 miles of white-sandy and relaxing beaches where two and four-legged travelers can play in the sand, swim in the Atlantic Ocean and enjoy the salt life. Atlantic, Jacksonville, Neptune and Mayport beaches all welcome dogs, as does Hanna Park.

Explore the great outdoors

Jacksonville has 80,000+ acres of green space to explore and that gives dogs (and their humans) plenty of places to go. Enjoy the great outdoors with your faithful companion at your side and explore Dogwood Park, Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens, Hanna Park, Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve, Memorial Park, and the Jacksonville Baldwin Rail Trail.

Time for a drink and dinner

After exploring Jacksonville, take a break and have some delicious locally sourced food. Many area restaurants and breweries have dog-friendly patios, including Salt Life, TacoLu, Wicked Barley Brewing, Southern Grounds and Engine 15 Brewing.

The options in Jacksonville are endless for your and your dog. Visit our Dog Friendly Travel Guide for a recommended itinerary, list of dog friendly hotels and more.
