It's SNOWING At Sea World This Summer!

Sea World

Its Snow at Polar Bear Shores!

Dont miss your chance to experience the coolest event on the Gold Coast this year SNOWonly at Sea Worlds Polar Bear Shores!

Sea World is bringing snow to the Gold Coast for a limited time only this summer holiday season, as an extension of the behavioural enrichment program for popular Polar bear residents Ping Ping, Kanook, Lia and Lutik.

From December 26th 2002 to January 27th 2003, the program adopted by Sea World animal carers to mentally enrich and stimulate the bears will take on a whole new dimension with the introduction of real snow to the Polar Bear Shores exhibit.

As with all new stimuli introduced at Polar Bear Shores, the bears have taken to the snow with gusto in trials conducted earlier this year, with young bears Lia and Lutik sliding, rolling and generally having a ball in the icy medium.

Sea World Director of Marine Sciences, Trevor Long, believes the texture and feel of the snow will provide an interesting contrast to the bears daily environment.

As proven in the past two years at Polar Bear Shores, both sets of bears have adapted happily to the Gold Coasts tropical climate, and dont require a frozen climate in which to live. The closest the bears have come to experiencing extreme cold at Sea World is in the form of iceblocks frozen with fish, watermelon and other edibles.

As well as providing an amazing visual experience for our guests, the snow environment will give the bears new stimuli which can only enhance their day to day mental and physical activity.

Sea World will also pledge all charity donations received at the parks front gate during the promotional period, to the Outback Drought Appeal.

SNOW at Sea Worlds Polar Bear Shores is truly a world first event, not to be missed these holidays!
