On 6th June, Her Majesty and His Royal Highness will pay a State visit to Normandy at the invitation of the President of France, François Holland.
To commemorate this special anniversary year from March through to September, there is a spectacular calendar of events in Normandy, including historical re-enactments, firework displays, military processions, concerts and much more. In the build up to the 70th anniversary new museums have opened, existing sites have exciting new exhibition spaces and there's lots to see and do for all the family.
For information on events, sites, museums, tours and accommodation, please visit the D-Day pages on the Normandy Tourist Board's website.
From 23rd August to 7th September, Normandy will also play host to the prestigious Alltech FEI™ World Equestrian Games and will welcome with it 1000 horses and 500 000 visitors. The main stage will be in Caen, with events also being held at Le Haras du Pin, Saint-Lô, Deauville and the Endurance competition will have as its backdrop the magnificent bay of the Mont-Saint-Michel.
From 22nd to the 28th September the Suisse Normande will then welcome the Canoe Polo World Championships. France's third largest canoe club, Thury-Harcourt, will see 600 athletes come from all corners of the globe to participate in this fast and furious competition.
