It's Lights, Camera, Action as Curtain Rises on Miami Film Month

Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau

MIAMI (March 1, 2012) - Miami is ready for its close-up, as the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) announces its first-ever Miami Film Month, a celebration of the destination's many contributions and close links to the Silver Screen. From being the home of internationally renowned film festivals and art cinemas; to its position as one of the most sought-after film locations in the world; to the countless movies that have featured the destination, Miami and the movies have what film mavens call "chemistry."

"We're very excited to be launching Miami Film Month as another example of Miami's cultural richness and diversity," said William D. Talbert III, CDME, president and CEO of the GMCVB. "With our beautiful climate, stunning views, and

accommodating locations, it's only natural that Greater Miami & The Beaches has become a destination and inspiration for the movies. We've also grown to be one of the largest production centers in the world for the film and television industries worldwide thanks to partners like our lifestyle and boutique hotels who provide special programs and amenities for the film community during their stays."

Miami Film Month will allow residents and visitors alike to enjoy members-only, cost-saving prices for tickets to screenings on select days through March as well as free popcorn at participating venues. More information can be found on www.MiamiFilmMonth.com. The month launches in conjunction with the Miami International Film Festival, one of the destination's largest movie gatherings and a major attraction for film-lovers from around the world. In total, Miami and the Beaches is home to 13 film festivals which take place throughout the year, including:

• American Black Film Festival

• Brazilian Film Festival of Miami

• DocMiami International Film Festival

• European Film Festival

• Italian Film Festival

• Miami & the Beaches Environmental Film Festival

• Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival

• Miami International Film Festival

• Miami Jewish Film Festival

• Miami Short Film Festival

· Miami Wildlife Conservation Film Festival

• Sicilian Film Festival

• Women's International Film Festival

Art Cinemas also participating in Miami Film Month include:

• Bill Cosford Cinema

• Coral Gables Art Cinema

• Miami Beach Cinematheque

• O Cinema

• Tower Theater

To kick off Miami Film Month's activities, the GMCVB will organize a series of consumer interactive stunts on March 1, where street teams made up of "Film Strippers" wearing playful trench coat costumes will interact with the community and "flash" Miami Film Month signage in areas such as Lincoln Road and Mary Brickell Village. The exchange provides an opportunity to educate consumers and film lovers alike. In addition, Miami Film Month will have a dedicated lounge space during the opening night of The Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) on March 2 at The Dupont Building. Film lovers at the MIFF opening night will have the opportunity learn details on Miami Film Month and enjoy gourmet popcorn.

Miami Film Month becomes the newest addition to the Temptations programs developed by the GMCVB to allow all to enjoy the best that Miami has to offer throughout the year at attractive prices. Miami Film Month joins successful

initiatives such as Miami Spa Month, Miami Spice Restaurant Month, Miami Museum Month, Miami Attractions Month, Miami Romance Month and Miami Live Music Month. For more information on the Temptations programs please visit
