It's official – the exhibition match between Liverpool Football Club and Adelaide United at the Adelaide Oval on July 20th is a sell out.

South Australia's Tourism Minister, Leon Bignell, had the privilege of escorting Liverpool FC Commercial Manager Olly Dale and club great Robbie Fowler on a tour of Adelaide Oval last week ahead of the upcoming tour.

"This match is a sell out and is generating huge interest." Mr Bignell said.
 "Since tickets went on sale on Monday the response has been tremendous. More than 9,500 tickets have been sold to fans from interstate and overseas."

"Meanwhile, in February, more than one billion people worldwide watched the India versus Pakistan World Cup cricket match, proving the Adelaide Oval offers one of the best spectator experiences in the world. This soccer game will provide another extraordinary experience."

Liverpool Football Club is England's most successful soccer team. They boast 41 major honours, are 18-time champions of England and five-time champions of Europe.

Mr Bignell said he was thrilled to meet Liverpool FC Ambassador Robbie Fowler and looked forward to meeting the entire squad when they play in Adelaide later this year.

 "Robbie is an icon of the game. He played 236 games for Liverpool and scored 183 goals in total for the club, 128 of which were scored in the Premier League. He also represented England 26 times in his illustrious career.
 It's an absolute honour to be able to show him our great Adelaide Oval."

The match will be played on July 20th at the Adelaide Oval. Liverpool FC has confirmed it will hold an open training session on the weekend prior to the game.

As part of his tour of Adelaide, Robbie visited Penfolds Magill Estate, home to both Australia's iconic Penfold's Grange, and one of Australia's top restaurants.
