Skiers and boarders are revelling in some of the best snow conditions this year, all thanks to the strongest cold front of the season passing the southeast of the country.

The snow started to fall on Sunday night with a few centimetres landing by Monday morning. As the cold front moved over the region and a low in the Tasman Sea pulled up moist air, the snowfalls became heavier on Tuesday night.

By Wednesday afternoon over 35cm of light and dry powder snow had been dumped on the resort.

Many skiers and boarders were proclaiming Wednesday to be the best day of the season with deep windblown snow stashes everywhere.

Perisher Blue ski resort is almost at full capacity with 50 lifts and 100 percent of trails anticipated to open this weekend.

It is not only skiers and snow boarders who are enjoying this fresh top up. Tube Town sponsored by Caltex is new to the resort this season. Guests of all ages can cruise down the specially groomed slope in inflatable rubber tyres. Then catch one of two dedicated lifts back to the top.

Tube Town is located on Mt. Piper Next to the Perisher Valley car park.

With fine weather forecast for the weekend and mountains of fresh snow, there has never been a better time for a snow holiday.
