Island Golf in a Sub Tropical Paradise

Amelia Island

The Ryder Cup is going to Whistling Straits, Wisconsin, in 2020; golfers everywhere will want to know where the best golf is to be found in the USA. Amelia Island, just off the coast of North East Florida, has some of the finest golf courses and resorts in the country.

The Oak Marsh Golf Course

One of two championship golf courses at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort, Oak Marsh is one of the truly classic Pete Dye-designed golf courses in the world (Dye also designed the Whistling Straits course). This course is noted for its tight fairways and small greens, meandering along serpentine salt marsh creeks and through the moss draped heritage oaks for which Amelia Island is famous. A par 72, the 6,500-yard course has 14 holes with water hazards and numerous bulk-headed greens. A variety of bunkers are placed throughout the course to add to the challenge, and a natural approach has been maintained as well with the use of coquina shell cart paths, native plant life and preserved habitats for the local wildlife. www.omnihotels.com/hotels/amelia-island-plantation/golf · Par 72

The Golf Club of Amelia Island

An Amelia Island club where golf blends with the beach. Not far from Fernandina Beach and Jacksonville, golfers will find one of Florida’s few resorts that brings together their love of the sport and the sea. The Golf Club of Amelia Island features an 18-hole championship course designed by PGA Tour veteran Mark McCumber and golf legend Gene Littler. Lush and meticulously manicured, the course offers challenging yet fun play with strategically placed bunkers and shifting ocean breezes. Open to members and guests staying at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island and Summer Beach Resort hotels.

The Golf Club is also home to The Academy, where individual instruction is offered for players of all levels. www.golfclubofamelia.com

The sub-tropical climate and warm Florida sun make the impeccable greens that much more enjoyable and enticing. Each course measures well over 3,000 yards from the championship tees and presents a one-of-a-kind challenge. www.fernandinabeachgolfclub.com
