Is Bidding for a Hotel's Room Possible?

RoomAuction.com Ltd

Actually yes! There is a place where you can try to convince hotel's staff to give you a better price and you can do it online.

I found RoomAuction.com totally by accident, while searching for accommodation in Iceland. Firstly, I didn't understand what is the purpose of this portal. And what it means to bid for a room. But fortunately this website is really well organised and it's easy to find answers for all questions in “How to use” and “Help” part. I won't double the description here, because I cannot write it more clearly than it is already. But I can assure you that it is a really interesting way of getting a better price for a room. I've never heard of it before and it's definitely worth checking while you are preparing for your journey. Especially because it has more than 55,000 hotels in its database from all over the world.

On the main page you can easily find the two above mentioned tabs, as well as two different search engines. The first one gives you the possibility to look for an accommodation offers by entering the following information: town, postcode, hotel name, country and county. The second option is a map, better for those who don't really know where they shall stay during longer trip.

Search results are displayed with small photo, name of the hotel, short description, option to “book now” or “bid now” (if it's available) and sometimes a standard rate for a room. This last information is really useful and I think it should be added to every option. I also really missed the possibility to sort the results by prices. It's always easier to find places which we can afford, without checking every single description or hotel's official website.

But even without this, RoomAuction.com is still a very interesting place to search for an accommodation, especially when we are leaving in a short notice. Then we have bigger chance that our bid will be accepted.

I really encourage you to check this website before your next trip to UK or other place in the world. You never know how much discount you can get unless you try to make a bid for it.
